today was a real one. this year has been a real one. this entire life is a real one.

today was one of those days where the brain tried to be dramatic and i still got shit done anyway. i’m currently on a night time walk around my neighborhood, reflecting on everything that has been happening recently as in pretty much this past calendar year of 2026. a lot of things, good things, have been blessing my life. hella things have been aligning harmoniously in a very apt synchronicity type of way, and it’s fucking beautiful. i hesitate to say that it feels like im starting a new chapter, because idk, everything and life just feels so momentous and meaningfully beautifully lately so much so that it honestly feels like i’m beginning an entirely brand new book, err, rather, a damn SEQUEL. cuz whole new book metaphor i feel implies that i’ve turned my back on who i was, which i am not at all. i am instead leading a life honoring all of it, and i will continue to do so. this recent calendar year, this past 6 months have been quite a ride:

  • i declutter a more than a decent amount in each and every corner of each and every room of the apartment. room is looking nice & tidier, feel like my soul can breathe.
  • this is my last week of TMS. i can’t believe it, only 3 more sesh’s left! w00t w00t! LFS(let’s fucking stay)!
  • after about a decade of drowning in a deep fog of a suffocating depression. even just this past December, i wouldn’t have believed being anywhere as remotely as happy as i am right now to be even remotely possible. crazy to think of how much time has flown by seemingly so quickly. i feel like i blinked the last 10 years of my life in a poof, yet this last 6ish months have taken forever to tick away, and i’m loving and honoring every moment of it.
  • my recent deep dive into web dev & programming has been really been going well. still very excited to see what lies ahead, and am especially thrilled to return to school for reasons of my own this time around at the end of august for digital cinematography at Full Sail University
  • returning to blogging has been a kind to my soul. feels like home, and rightfully so. after all, you can trace my web dev interest all the way back to pretty much 25-26 years ago during my deadjournal and later livejournal days, spending nights up late perusing the forums to figure out how exactly some person’s cool ass deadjournal/livejournal’s  got the thing to do the thing.
  • on a sort of a not so good, but not the end of the world news: my JBL’s, my studio monitors finally bit the dust after 11ish-12ish years. the studio monitors that i bought at a steal of a clearance sale at like 70% off when Sam Ash was having an “Everything Must Go” Sale because they’re store was closing in North Jersey one of the monitors fell over really hard from great enough a distance yesterday when i was cleaning my room rearranging my desks. as the speaker hit the ground, it must’ve fallen back first cuz the XLR and DC plugs pushed in the ports. as i was unscrewing the back panel, the very moment i lifted it up high enough to see the PCB board, i could see how much it badly SHATTERED the PCB board! and honestly, in that very moment, i was immediately surprised about how much i was NOT broken up about it and completely accepted it; i truly have changed all for the better lately.
  • tomorrow is my 38th birthday. my. body. is. ready.

by late afternoon my brain was getting anxious and low-energy, so i took that as the extremely obvious hint it was giving me: eat, drink, walk, and stop trying to brute-force more learning into a fried skull. honestly, that was probably the smartest move of the day.

i finished the freecodecamp box model quiz, got through fcc css layouts and effects review + quiz, and made real progress in the odin project intro to css. that lesson had a lot of writing, which normally would annoy the hell out of me, but i stuck with handwritten notes because i actually want the information to stay in my head longer instead of evaporating the second i close the tab.

i also built the hackr.io animated business card project, which was a nice shift from theory to something i could actually make move around on a screen like a tiny obedient goblin. after that i tightened up my guerz.lol roadmap page copy and checked the nav, which is the kind of boring-but-important work that keeps a project from slowly rotting in the corner.

so yeah. not a perfect day, but a real one. progress happened. things shipped. my brain survived. that’s enough.

what i’m listening to: Desaparaceidos – “Mañana
mood: 😌 relieved, a little feral, but mostly proud
