didn’t get any freeCodeCamp (fCC) done this afternoon, but honestly the day still got used up pretty well, so i’m not exactly filing a complaint with the universe. i’ve been cleaning my room, rearranging a bunch of stuff, and doing that weird domestic shuffle where everything looks slightly worse before it looks better, but it’s finally feigning more towards that latter half. the kind of progress that makes you question your own decisions for a minute and then, somehow, still feels worth it by the end. i also had to walk to Walgreens earlier to pick up my Rx’s, which is always a nice little reminder that adulthood is just a long series of errands with side quests.
so on the walk, instead of fCC, i kept working on Encode iOS, and i actually started messing around with three other learning apps too: Sololearn for LLM’s, Enki for HTML, and Mimo for Full Stack Developer. because apparently my brain heard “pick one thing” and responded with “what if we simply made it a small educational ecosystem instead.” very normal. extremely efficient. Executive Dysfunctional ADHD’er over here.
cue the tune:
aside from the room-cleaning and the app chaos, i spent a good chunk of the afternoon signing up for Ko-fi.com and BuyMeACoffee.com and setting up OBS browser sources for those, plus StreamElements too. that part felt kind of nice, actually. it’s one of those behind-the-scenes things that doesn’t look exciting from the outside, but internally it feels like slowly building a little control panel for your own weird little internet cave. there’s something satisfying about making the pieces line up even when nobody is clapping. especially when nobody is clapping. keeps it honest.
and i got to listen to a bunch of music too, which really did help. i haven’t sat down and just let music run in the background for a while like that, and it reminded me how much that matters. sometimes the day doesn’t need another productivity hack. sometimes it just needs a soundtrack while you move boxes around, stare at settings menus, and try to remember why you opened the browser in the first place. music makes the chaos feel a little more on purpose.
i’m also going to test Twitch signal and see whether we should switch ISPs or not, because school is going to start soon and that’s all online, and my mom is probably going to lock in the job soon remotely too, so she’ll need her computer as well. which means internet reliability suddenly matters a lot more than it did when we were all just pretending buffering was a personality trait. i won’t need perfect internet, but i do need reliable internet, so what better way to test it than with a Twitch stream and a little live stress test of reality.
so if you hop in and can let me know whether my signal looks good or not, that’d be awesome. if nobody catches it, that’s okay too — i can always check on my phone and see how it’s behaving from there. either way, i’ll be streaming again when school starts, and those will be study streams, so this is basically the warm-up lap before the real thing. the signal test is part technical experiment, part preparation, part “let’s see what the internet is doing before it ruins my evening.”
sooo yeah, today wasn’t fCC-heavy, but it was still productive in the sort of sideways, low-key, slightly chaotic way that still counts. room cleaned, stuff rearranged, Rx’s picked up, learning apps started, streaming tools set up, music enjoyed, and internet testing on deck. not a bad day for one that didn’t follow the original plan at all.
*call-to-action: if you catch the stream, please let me know whetherthe signal looks stable or cursed. and if you miss it, no worries — i’ll be back streaming when school starts, and the study streams are coming either way.
