le vinyl long[play] goodbye begins…

the heavy weight of imminent eviction continues to tighten it’s grip around my soul…

last night, i spent a fairly large chunk of it sifting through the crates of my vinyl collection, divvying into groups the ones i’m intending to list on Discogs. i sorted them based on presumed value, presumed rarity, and eyeballed condition grading. i’m gonna start off with going through the ones i feel may price high + could have a higher demand than the rest of what i have.

i know i cannot at expect any sorta return profit very soon whatsoever. but i still gotta do it. for one reason, at the end of the day, they’re just things; it’s just stuff. i can always get more stuff later on again. for another reason, i just think it’s been a depressing, unfortunate fact that a whole bunch of great quality and great music has been literally shelved and extremely rarely getting much attention at all. art is meant to be experienced. and music is there to be listened to. so take this as my way of doing my best efforts to try and ensure each and every one of these beautiful records find a lucky home, into the hands of an owner who will give them a good play after replay after replay, and love them as much as i did. i mean, if someone is to go out of their way to scour the recesses of Discogs to find a record, it’s likely for a reason fueled by a passionate love for the music/musician(s)/band/dj/producer/composer/etc.

as i go through this mega process of meticulously grading each and every one of the few dozens i queued up to be listed on my Discogs page, i’ve done myself the least of a courtesy to give some of these albums one last listen, all having been and always will continue being near and dear to my heart, just potentially no longer able to hold it with my own two hands much longer. sadge.
